Our Statement of Faith

自从使徒时代直至如今,基督徒都会写下教义、信条和定义性的宣告。作为认识神恩约里的子民,我们认为有必要为了教会,而基于圣经的教导来定下一个简明的真理标准作为房角石。我们的信仰宣言总结了核心的基督徒信仰,展示了基督里的合一,且保护教会免于错谬。

Since the apostolic age until today, Christians have written doctrines, creeds, and confessional statements. As a people who belong to God’s covenant of grace, we believe it is necessary—for the good of the church—to establish a concise standard of truth grounded in the teaching of Scripture, serving as a cornerstone for our common faith. Our confession summarizes the essential doctrines of the Christian faith, displays our unity in Christ, and guards the church from error.

古晋恩典浸信会已在会友会议中通过接受以下具有历史性的信仰宣言作为本教会的官方信仰宣言:

Grace Baptist Church Kuching has, in a duly convened members’ meeting, affirmed and adopted the following historic confession as the official confession of faith of this church:

这个信仰宣言宣告了我们的信仰乃连结于历史的基督教信仰与福音派信仰,信而受洗 的观念,以及 长老带领会众制 的教会体制。一旦接受了这个信仰告白,我们就有责任相信,并根据它而生活。

This confession declares that our faith stands in continuity with the historic Christian faith and the evangelical tradition. It affirms Credobaptism and an Elder-led Congregationalism form of church government. Having received this confession, we are therefore responsible to believe its teaching and to order our lives in accordance with it.

我们是属于改革宗/归正传统的浸信会
We are a Baptist church that stands within the Reformed tradition.

作为归正/改革宗的一份子,广义上,我们也同心与全球的归正/改革宗教会共同认信归正/改革宗信仰历史中重要的信经、信条:

As part of the broader Reformed tradition, we gladly stand in confessional unity with Reformed churches around the world by affirming the historic creeds and confessions that have shaped the Reformed faith:

** On the matters of baptism and church government, however, we hold the 1689 2nd LBCF as our primary doctrinal standard. Accordingly, we affirm believer’s baptism (rather than infant baptism) and an elder-led congregational form of church governance (rather than presbyterian polity). Nevertheless, we maintain brotherly love and Christian fellowship with our brothers and sisters in the Westminster tradition, recognizing our shared unity in Christ and in the Reformed faith.

上列的信经、信条不但呼吁教会回归圣经,同时也修正了当时 天主教信仰 的逾越之处,并且充分地展现了宗教改革运动的精神--五大唯独

These creeds and confessions not only call the church back to the authority of Scripture, but also corrected the doctrinal excesses of the Roman Catholic Church in their time. Moreover, they clearly embody the spirit of the Protestant Reformation—summarized in the Five Solas:

 

  • 唯独圣经    Sola Scriptura

  • 唯独信心    Sola Fide

  • 唯独恩典    Sola Gracia

  • 唯独基督    Solus Christus

  • 唯独一切荣耀归给神    Soli Deo Gloria

 

我们推荐 台湾改革宗神学院 对历史上正统改革宗传统之神学界限的归纳性解释--加尔文、法国胡格诺派、荷兰归正宗、苏格兰长老会、英国及美国的清教徒、17世纪归正正统、美国南方长老会、旧普林斯顿/西敏斯特神学院的传统。在此基础上,我们作为持守改革宗浸信会(1689浸宣)立场的教会,也承认17世纪改革宗浸信会与上述传统在关键教义上的深厚关联,因此一并属于广义的改革宗家族。

We commend the summary offered by China Reformed Theological Seminary (Taiwan) concerning the theological boundaries of the historic and orthodox Reformed tradition—encompassing Calvin, the French Huguenots, the Dutch Reformed churches, the Scottish Presbyterians, the English and American Puritans, seventeenth-century Reformed Orthodoxy, the Southern Presbyterian tradition in the United States, and the heritage of Old Princeton and Westminster Theological Seminary. On this foundation, as a church that holds to the convictions of the Reformed Baptist tradition (1689 2nd LBCF), we also recognize the deep theological continuity between seventeenth-century Reformed Baptists and these historic streams in their essential doctrines. We therefore understand ourselves to belong, in the broader sense, to the Reformed family.

We are part of the universal church /one of holy catholic Church.

我们与普世基督教会共同信守早期教会及大公会议所制定的四个信经:

Together with the universal Christian church, we confess the four ecumenical creeds formulated by the early church and affirmed through the great councils:

 

  • 迦克墩信经    Chalcedonian Creed

  • 亚他那修信经    Athanasian Creed

  • 尼西亚信经    Nicene Creed

  • 使徒信经    Apostles' Creed

 

以上列举的信经形成了正统基督教会的最大共识。他们都努力地根据圣经述说教义,并按圣经提出了基督教信仰不可妥协的核心(福音之焦点)。这些信经的界限,同时提醒了人们应该提防那少数脱离历史、误解圣经的异端教导,例如:耶和华见证人、耶稣基督后期圣徒教会(俗称摩门教)。

These creeds represent the broadest consensus of orthodox Christianity. Each seeks to articulate biblical doctrine faithfully and to set forth the non-negotiable core of the Christian faith—the very heart of the gospel. The doctrinal boundaries established by these creeds also serve as a necessary safeguard, warning the church to be discerning against teachings that depart from the historic faith and misinterpret Scripture. Such groups include, for example, the Jehovah’s Witnesses and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly known as Mormonism).

 

我们否认与正统基督信仰(圣经)相悖的主张
We reject all teachings and claims that are contrary to the orthodox Christian faith (the Holy Scriptures).

西方教会领袖根据改教运动回归圣经的精神,对当代教会乱象提出针砭,我们严肃呼吁基督徒重视这两个宣言:

In keeping with the Reformational commitment to return to the authority of Scripture, Western church leaders have spoken prophetically to the disorders of the contemporary church. We therefore earnestly urge Christians to give careful attention to the following two statements:

 

  • 剑桥宣言    Cambridge Declaration

  • 芝加哥圣经无误宣言    Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy

 

这些宣言一如历代信经信条,提醒教会不可偏离圣经,警戒亟需匡正之时弊如:自由主义神学、新正统神学、灵恩运动、保罗新观(N.T. Wright)及非难圣经无误教义之观点(以Peter Enns, Inspiration and Incarnation为代表)等。我们同时呼吁教会在这些牴触圣经教导的学说上不要采取模棱两可的立场。

Like the creeds and confessions throughout church history, these statements call the church not to depart from Scripture. They warn against theological trends that require urgent correction, including Liberal Christianity, Neo-orthodoxy, the excesses of the Charismatic Movement, the New Perspective on Paul (associated with N. T. Wright), and views that challenge the doctrine of biblical inerrancy (represented, for example, by Peter Enns in Inspiration and Incarnation). We further exhort the church not to adopt an ambiguous or accommodating stance toward teachings that stand in tension with the clear doctrine of Holy Scripture, but instead to hold fast to the truth once for all delivered to the saints.
